The Bible for UUs

This class introduces participants to ancient Goddesses, weaving their stories together with major concerns of women today. “Cakes for the Queen of Heaven” is a well-known and respected UU study curriculum focusing on the Earth-based goddess traditions. Contact Sarah Montgomery-Schleuder.
Chalice Circles
Small religious discussion groups of 7-9 people, which meet monthly according to mutually agreed upon schedules. Each meeting addresses a topic of mutual interest, concern and experience, within the context of the religious life. Discussions follow a format designed to increase sharing of personal experience, with chalice lighting, readings, silence, check-in, discussion, and closing. Three circles currently meet – 2 on weekday evenings and 1 mid-day. Openings are available in some of these groups, as well as new groups to be formed. Crone’s Circle

Financial Peace University is a financial literacy program that empowers people, changes their spending and saving habits, and leads them to financial independence and self-sufficiency. Is Living Killing You?

This discussion class will help you identify behaviors you might have which are hurting you – such as worry, procrastinating, being passive or aggressive. It is not intended as therapy and you are the only one who needs to know what you are working on. This course is based on a book written by People’s Church member Dorothy Eppstein on how to eliminate self-defeating behaviors through a structured program. A free copy of the book is included. Jill's Study Group

What topics and ideas in religion are most interesting or challenging to you right now? What would you most like to discuss with others interested in broadening and deepening their understanding of how to live in right relations. Join Jill for this monthly study group – topics to be chosen by the group. Reading and preparation for each session will be needed.
Living with Depression
4th Sundays, 12:30pm, Library
If you or someone you care about suffers from depression or other mental illness, join in this opportunity to share stories, offer support, and connect with others. At People’s, mental illness is not something to be kept hidden—we are committed as a religious community to assist one another in shining some light on this often misunderstood condition. Men’s Discussion Group
1st and 3rd Saturdays, 10:00 a.m., Library
We meet the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10:00am in the church library with light refreshments. Women are welcome! Discussion leaders circulate background reading at a meeting prior to the one they will be leading. Contact Bill Goodman for more information.
People’s Parents Group

Spanish Conversation Class
Mondays 7:00-9:00pm Sept. 17 – Nov. 19.
This is a continuing Spanish class with Oswaldo Baez, native of Ecuador and an excellent and very knowledgeable teacher. The class is small – usually about 8 people, more than half of them from People's -- and we meet in students' homes. The cost of the class is $75 for the ten week term. We try hard to speak only Spanish in class, so some experience with the Spanish language is a necessary prerequisite. Contact Pat Pratt if interested.
Spirit of Life
Sundays, Sept. 30-Dec. 2, 9:30am-10:30am

People's Church has been chosen to field test a new adult RE curriculum, based upon one of our favorite hymns, "Spirit of Life." Field-testing involves using the full curriculum and then evaluating it for possible changes before publication. Janet French, our intern minister, will facilitate the course.
The nine session course includes topics such as: Exploring Spirituality as Unitarian Universalists; Caring for One Another; Living Our Spirituality in our Day-to-day Lives; Nature and Spirit; Loving Your Neighbor and Yourself; and Hopes, Dreams and Expanding Vision.
Sessions begin Sunday, September 30 at 9:30 a.m., and will run consecutively (excluding Thanksgiving Sunday, Nov. 25) through December 2. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the foyer. Contact Janet French if you have any questions.
